A Magical Return to Kraków: My Stay at the New Hotel B & B on Monte Cassino

On my latest adventure to tick off yet another of Poland’s UNESCO world heritage sites, I ended up in Kraków again. This time I was heading to the famous wooden church in the tranquil village of Lipnica Murowana, which was added to the UNESCO list in 2003. I’ve been to Kraków around 20 times now, I lose count and rather than the city waning, it also improves visit by visit. It was sentimental and magical.

On route, I decided to stay in one of Kraków’s newest and coolest hotels. Welcome to the Hotel B & B in Kraków. This is a budget hotel, located on the banks of Poland’s longest river, the Wisła. The Hotel B & B is a huge hotel which opened its doors in 2018, brand new. I crossed the bridge over the river and got checked in to my superb room on the third floor (room 302). I have also stayed at the Hotel B & B in Katowice, which made me curious to see whether the hotels are consistent and similar. It turns out they are and it turns out this is the coolest new hotel on the Kraków scene, so here are a few things I liked about it.

1.Consistently clean and cosy rooms
Once again, the room was in pristine condition. The brand have found a standard that is maintained across all their hotels. Not just here in Kraków, but around the world.

My bed was cosy. The bathroom was great. I had a television. The bed was brilliant!

2.Added Artwork
I personally loved the artistic feel to the room, especially since a huge photo of Kraków’s main square dominated the wall behind my bed. In the photo, you can see the famous St. Mary’s Church, one of the city’s defining buildings. Each room has different photos so you will never know what to expect when you open your room door.

3.Excellent Breakfast
You have to pay extra for the breakfast but trust me – it’s worth it. The coffee machines serves up genuine cappuccinos, there are a range of teas and the juice selection includes orange juice, apple juice and grapefruit juice.
Foodwise, get ready to be hungry. Three types of sausage are offered, including the Polish kiełbasa and German frankfurters. There are scrambled egg dishes based on a Polish recipe featuring “jajecznica”.

4.Writer’s Station
The desk and chair provided me with my temporary writer’s station for the night. With fast Wi-Fi in every room, it’s a great hotel for those also here on business or to update their Instagram and Facebook profiles.

5.Great Value for Money
The sheer number of hotels in Kraków now is huge, so to see that a new hotel like this has opened and provides great value, with rooms available from just 68 zlotych / 17 Euros per person and can go up or down depending on the season or room choice. It’s a great budget option which still offers luxury.
