My latest “tasty Wednesday” was a trip to the trendy Krowarzywa restaurant in Warszawa, Poland’s capital city. This restaurant was recommended to me by Magdalena from Oki Doki Hostel and off I went. As a meat eater, you might be surprised that I would decide to randomly try vegan food but I did. Krowarzywa is located on Ulica Hoża near Warszawa Centralna train station and Warszawa Centrum Metro. Opening hours can change but generally 12 – 23.00.
Krowarzywa Promises This:
By eating with us you are guaranteed that you provide your body with the best, fresh and wholesome ingredients. Everything we serve is 100% plant-based and produced with care for animals and the environment. The menu is in Polish and English.
I should also mention the clever pun and word play here. There is a picture of a cow on the logo, because they are saving cows. The meaning of Krowarzywa can be translated as:
Cow – krowa
Vegetables – warzywa
So kind of “saving the cow by using vegetables”, a nice touch!
Burger of the Week – Burger Tygodnia – Buraczex
I decided to have the burger of the week, known as “Burger Tygodnia”. This week it was a Beetroot burger (Buraczex) which really appealed to me. The ingredients are Beet, Red Lentils, herbs. Krowarzywa describes the burger as “Beets, are resilient against hematopoiesis and are a rich source of iron, therefore, it will strengthen you to try the buraczexa”! I order, I pay 16.5 zlotys and I am waiting for number 13 (trzynaście) to be called.
My number is called and the burger is served on a tray which is also plant based and can even be eaten! The main ingredient of the burger part is beetroot.
The burger was absolutely delicious and I recommend it. I hope to return to Krowarzywa again soon and bring you more food stories from within Poland as the Polish love to say, with some aplomb:
I didn’t make a video on this visit, but I promise to have more videos on future on my Smaczne Srody series. Here are the details for getting to Krowarzywa, which is also situated in Krakow and a second Warszawa location is on Marszałkowska Ulica.
